Two Down

By Annika Nesicha/Sailor Bakura

"At least we know what we’re up against," Priire said. It had been two weeks since they found out about the Angels7. They knew the sisters were working for someone, but Hope couldn’t tell them who.

"I know I worked for him, but we only ever spoke to Kendra," the blue-haired Hope told the Senshi. Kendra was a name the Sailor Jedi knew well. Kendra, or Kouga Ada, was the leader of the Sailor Sith. She was ruthless and enjoyed torturing the Senshi, which resulted in many battles over time. Several times the Jedi had come close to capturing the Sith Queen, but each time they had been foiled.

"What does Kendra stand to gain from this?" Nami wondered.

"Who knows? Maybe she’s just doing it for sport, or to test her new weapons," Priire said. The blonde pilot was flipping cards into Tuxedo Jedi’s hat.

"If he find out you’ve got that…" Kyoko warned. Priire laughed and shrugged her shoulders. Kairiku bounded into the room with ChibiSuta and Chakra. Each of them had a particularly devilish grin. Kairiku winked at her two friends.

"Kyoko…I -we- wanted to know if we can go into town to buy some candy?" the pretty girl smiled. She knew that the Jedi Council had forbade them to leave Coruscant until the Angels7 were caught.

Hope, who was temporarily staying in another room in the Temple, suggested they not even leave the Room Behind the Waterfall. Kyoko agreed and gave Kairi-chan a suspicious look.

"There is candy here, Kairi-chan," she told her.

"I know, but we wanted some special candy from Kirtania. It was supposed to arrive at the candy shop today!"

"Kairi-chan…" Kyoko started.

"We’ll go with Anakin and Obi-Wan! Please?"

"Well, I suppose you’ll be safe with them. But," she said pointing her finger at the odango-haired girl, "if I hear any of you were trouble…Just don’t get lost and stay with the Jedi. OK?"

The three girls smiled broadly.

"Sure! We’ll be good!" they yelled in unison as they ran from the room.

Harmony pulled on her shoes and straightened her hair. Today would be the day that she got the soul of a Senshi. She dabbed on her lip gloss and grabbed her mini Gungan Ball Launcher. The phone rang. She decided to let the machine answer it. She didn’t want to be late.

"Hi!" came the shiny voice of Mercy over the answering machine. "You’ve reached the offices of the Angels7. No one is here to take your call, so leave a message and we’ll get back to you! Bye!"

Beep.

"Harmony? Pick up the phone. It’s me." That voice! Kendra she could ignore, but not him. Harmony rushed back into the office, tripping over stacks of brown files.

"Yes Sir?" she said, panting from being out of breath.

"You do know what your mission is today right? We can’t afford another failure. Do you know what I do to failures?"

"No Sir."

"Failures get slowly fed to my pet Rancor." The line went dead.

Harmony shivered. She heard that certain important people owned Rancors, but she though it was something said to scare little kids. Either way, she didn’t want to find out.

She panicked. She didn’t want to be some beast’s dinner! She saw Faith sitting in the corner. The red haired girl was feeding some womprats.

"Faith! You have to help me!" She looked up from her pets and laughed.

"Why should I help you? I don’t want to fail and get fed to the Rancor."

Harmony gasped. "You knew that?? Why didn’t you tell me?"

"Well," Faith rolled her eyes. "For starters, I thought you knew, secondly…you should’ve known."

"Thanks a lot!" she stuck her tongue out at her sister. "Listen, if you help me, I’ll buy you that new hat you want," Harmony cooed.

Faith thought this over for a moment. She did want that hat, it matched her new shoes. But she didn’t want to help. She wanted to relax all day. Her greed won the argument. "Fine! But I want a hat and some gloves!"

Harmony grinned, "Agreed."

"Are you sure we’re not going to get in trouble for this, Kairi-chan?" ChibiSuta asked. The small girl held onto Chakra’s hand. The room they were crowded into was dimly lit and very dusty.

"Of course I’m sure!" Kairiku whispered.

"But we lied to Kyoko!" Chakra said. Some dust landed on her nose, and she sneezed.

"Stay quiet, Cha Cha! We’ll get caught. And we did not lie to Kyoko. We told her that we wanted to go into town to get some Kirtania candy. We also told her we’d go with Obi-Wan and Anakin. Yes?"

The two girls nodded.

"And that’s what we’re doing!"

"But you didn’t tell her that Obi-Wan and Anakin were going to the actual planet."

Kairiku shook her head. "I know. I didn’t tell her which town we were going to! See it’s perfect! Technically, I didn’t lie. Besides, we’ll be back before long, and no one will know the difference."

They didn’t hear the footfalls that entered the room. They also didn’t know that they were being listened to, "Just how long were you going to hide back there?" a voice quietly spoke.

The girls winced as light flooded every corner of the room. They crawled out from behind the steel boxes that served as a hiding spot. Obi-Wan Kenobi stood with his hands of his hips. The girls quickly explained their story.

"You can’t tell Kyoko and Nom! Please, Master Kenobi?" Kairi-chan wailed. The Jedi stood with his arms now folded over his chest. He looked crossly at the three young girls. He paced. The girls stared at the cold floor of the ship.

Obi-Wan was thinking. He knew the girls felt they could handle themselves, but they were still young. And they had been given strict orders not to leave Coruscant. His decision would not make them happy.

He sighed. "I’m sorry girls, but I will have to tell the Senshi about this. You are aware that this is a dangerous time for all of you; I can’t believe you didn’t consider the possibility of losing your lives."

His voice grew stern as he gazed directly at them. "When we land on Kirtania, you three will stay in this room. You are not allowed on the planet. If I find out you left, I will report this little trip to the Council." Obi-Wan turned and walked from the room, leaving Chakra, ChibiSuta and Kairi-chan to pout.

Anakin Skywalker sneaked into the room. "He’s only worried about you. He’s that way to me sometimes," the blonde boy frowned. The voice of his master bellowed his name from the Jedi’s private quarters. Anakin slumped from the room, pausing to glance at Kairi-chan for a moment. His name echoed the walls again and this time, he ran out.

"Listen," Kairi-chan addressed the little group, "I’ll take responsibility for this. I’ll talk to Kyoko and Nom when we get home. This was all my idea."

"But you didn’t force us to come along," ChibiSuta said. Chakra had tears in her eyes. She had never seen Obi-Wan so angry. Her heart hurt, and she started to cry. Her friends comforted her, reassuring her that Obi-Wan cared so much for them and the fact that they might get hurt, scared him. So he was curt with them.

Her tears stopped as the ship landed safely.

Annika walked into the doorway. She started crying and sat on the floor. Mika strode up to her and chuckled. Annika noticed she was wearing a white bandage.

"I hit it earlier too," she laughed. Mika helped the white-haired girl apply Bacta lotion on her bruise. Then they joined some of the Senshi in the main room. Coru and Priire were playing Sabaac. Kyoko was talking with Kousotsu.

"It’s getting late. They should be getting back soon," the blue-haired Kyoko said. The worry in her voice was obvious.

"They’re only in the centre of town, and don’t forget they’re with Anakin and Obi-Wan. They’ll be fine," Kousotsu answered her.

Annika looked strangely at the two. "Obi-Wan isn’t in the centre of town. He and Anakin were going to a different planet today. They had to go on a fact-finding mission. Reports have filtering in through local authorities about some strange tribe of people that live in the mines. At least that’s what Obi-Wan told me. They were leaving this afternoon."

Nom flipped open her wrist communicator, but she couldn’t reach Chakra. Kyoko picked up her commlink and called for the Jedi.

"Skywalker," Anakin’s voice came.

"Anakin, are Kairi-chan, Chakra, and Chibi Suta with you?" The long silence that followed let Kyoko know that the three missing girls were indeed on planet Kirtania.

It was decided that Sailors Yavin, Coruscant, Calamari, Bakura, and Endor would fly to Kirtania. They would retrieve the girls, and come straight back to Coruscant. They decided to charter a transport as the Angels were probably looking for any of the Senshi’s ships.

"How are we supposed to get there anyway, Harmony? You know as well as I do that all of Coruscant is looking for us," Faith said, admiring her new hat and gloves in a mirror.

"I was thinking we could steal a ride on a freighter - they’d never think to look for us there! All we have to do is go to the docking bay, find one that is headed for Coruscant, and TaaDaa!! We’ll be there in no time!" she smiled effortlessly.

The two villains found a perfect transport ship. It was red, which indicated its peaceful intentions; it also had plenty of hiding room! The guards would never find them! The ship had just come from Coruscant and was making one tiny stopover on some stupid planet before heading back to Coruscant.

"See, it’s perfect, Faith! That way it will appear this ship is carrying dignitaries - we’ll zoom straight past the authorities!!" They quietly made their way into the kitchen and waited.

"What sort of trouble do you think we’re in for anyway?" Kairiku asked. The other two girls shrugged. They had been in the small room for what seemed like eternity.

"That’s it! I’ve had it! I’ve got to get out of this room!" Chibi Suta said. She stood up, stretched and went for the door. The others stopped her.

"Wait! Obi-Wan told us not to leave!" Chakra said, tugging on the older girl’s sleeve.

"We can’t get into any more trouble than we are already in! Besides, I’ve never been here," the brown haired girl slowly opened the door. It creaked on its hinges. When it was open enough to slide through, all three tiptoed down the hallway and stood before the ship’s controls. Chakra took off running for the hatch. Kairiku and Chibi Suta were confused until they saw the fight outside. Obi-Wan and Anakin, lightsabers drawn, were battling with a group of what looked to be miners. Only they were children. And all incredibly Force-sensitive.

Objects were flying around the Jedi and distracting them. The children were filthy and were wearing torn clothes and no shoes. They were barely moving; the Jedi were growing tired from defending themselves against the onslaught of attacks.

Chibi Suta and Kairiku quickly transformed into Sailors Corellia and Chibi Naboo. By the time they caught up with Chakra, she had already become the full grown Sailor Chibi Dathomir. The three rushed to the aide of their friends and fellow Jedi.

"Hold it!" Chibi Naboo yelled. The children all turned around and for a split second the Senshi saw relief in the eyes of Anakin and Obi-Wan. "I am Sailor Chibi Naboo!"

"And I am Sailor Corellia!"

"I am Sailor Chibi Dathomir! And in the name of the universe, we’ll punish you!"

The children didn’t move; instead, they focused their attention on the various small metal objects. One by one they flew at the Senshi.

Chibi Dathomir held up her sceptre. "Sacred Light Reflection!" The pure light disintegrated all the metal pieces. The children gasped. The oldest child, a red haired female, walked forward.

"You hold such power?" she asked. The Jedi were confused. Chibi Dathomir nodded her head. The children whispered among themselves and several of them took a few steps closer to the three girls. The lead girl cleared her throat and spoke again.

"You aren’t forced to hide?"

"Why would we have to hide?" Corellia asked.

Obi-Wan deactivated his lightsaber and approached the small tribe. "Who are you?"

"Purity…Sparkle!" Harmony yelled after she loaded the silver disk into her mini Gungan Ball Launcher. Bright, flashing lights played in front of the Senshi’s eyes.

Faith silently cursed her sister. Only she would choose a ship full of Sailor Jedi. A white-haired girl caught them stowing away in the kitchen. If only Harmony hadn’t tried to attack her, because as it turns out, the girl was a Sailor Jedi. And she had friends.

Harmony’s sparkle seemed to be working. The Senshi were hypnotised by the flickering flashes. Faith felt her time to strike was now.

"Fire Loading!!" A red orange flame slowly built between the hands of the red-haired Faith. She didn’t notice Sailor Calamari had pulled herself out of the hypnotism.

The fire grew larger. Sailor Calamari raised her hands. "Calamari Wave Engulf!" The waves of water crashed down on Faith and extinguished the flame. The other Senshi, at hearing the loud crash, snapped back to consciousness.

Harmony saw her sister laying knocked out on the floor. She snapped her fingers. "Sailor Sith Eimin!" A reluctant Sailor Sith appeared and stood nearby. Sailor Endor turned and attacked her. Sailor Bakura, now Eternal Sailor Bakura, used her wand and purified Faith and Harmony. Both of them lay on the floor, exhausted.

Sailor Endor attacked Emi again. Sailor Yavin raised her staff. "Dimension Hole!" No one was sure what happened, but the Senshi were all blinded by a startlingly bright light. When they could see again, Sailor Coruscant noticed that Eimin was gone.

"What happened, Yavin?" she asked. Sailor Yavin shook her head. Sailor Bakura was stunned and saddened that Coru had used one of her most powerful attacks. Suddenly the bright light flooded the room again and something stood in Sith Eimin’s place.

"Who are you?" Sailor Endor demanded. The strange-looking woman could only say one word and none of the Senshi understood her. A small round hole opened and a strange looking Sailor came through. She looked like Zyta, only different.

"I believe this belongs to you," the strange sailor said. She tossed a defeated Sailor Sith Eimin at the feet of Sailor Coruscant.

Sailor Yavin recognised the Sailor. "Sailor Uranus! How did you get here?"

Sailor Uranus? One of the Senshi from Earth? How can that be? Annika was overjoyed to see one of the heroines that she read about in Yuki-chan’s manga.

The face of Sailor Pluto entered the dimension hole. "We must have used our attacks at the same time Sailor Yavin. Our dimensions crossed." Sailor Uranus grabbed the strange enemy by the neck and threw her into the hole. The blonde Sailor stepped back in as well and was also gone.

"Hoth!" Eternal Sailor Bakura yelled. She jumped around. "I can’t wait to tell everyone I saw Sailor Uranus!"

They found Obi-Wan, Anakin, Chakra, Chibi Suta and Kairiku some time later. They all took the Jedi’s transport back to Coruscant with Harmony and Faith in tow. Obi-Wan immediately reported back to the Council.

"It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever encountered. The children are outcasts because of their Force abilities. They’ve been taught that they are evil and were made to live outside of society…I just can’t understand it," he muttered into the commlink. The voice of Ki-Adi-Mundi informed him that the Council was sending ships to pick up the children and bring them back to the Temple.

Kyoko and Nom met the ship as it landed. Both of them had their arms folded. Obi-Wan looked at the three youngest girls and descended the ramp first.

He sighed and remembered how the girls had helped them earlier in the battle. He also remembered that without them, the tribe of children might still be doomed to a future of isolation. He sighed again.

"I must apologise to you Kyoko, Nom. I should have informed you when I invited Kairiku, Chakra, and Chibi Suta to accompany Anakin and myself to Kirtania. Your anger should be directed solely at me." He bowed respectfully.

Kairi-chan’s mouth dropped. She was stunned.

"You invited them, but you didn’t invite me?" Annika wailed. "How could you do that?!? I should’ve been able to go! This isn’t fair!…" She trailed off. Obi-Wan nodded his head at her and walked out of the room with Annika following him, still complaining about not getting an invitation.

Kyoko hugged Kairiku, and Nom placed her hands on Chakra’s shoulders. And they all headed back to the Room Behind the Waterfall.
