Won’t She Ever Give Up?

“Stay still!”

“No!"

“It’ll only take a moment.....Hey!! Get back here!”

A short-haired girl ran out into the hallway, socked feet slipping on the floor, causing her legs to give out beneath her. Picking herself up, she quickly ran past a confused Suta and Kairiku, not pausing to explain herself. The two of them just shrugged; too many weird things happened around their friends, and they had grown used to it by now. The girl took the stairs three at a time, hearing yelling behind her.

Downstairs she noticed her sister sitting on a couch. Rushing over to her, she hid behind the couch, trying to peer out to see if she was being followed. “You’d think she’d give up by now,” she told her sister, who didn’t bother to look back at her.

“You know mother,” the oldest of the two replied.

“LYS!”

“Uh oh, gotta go. Don’t say a word.” Lys stood up and went to leave the Room Behind the Waterfall as fast as she could, nearly running into Priire, who yelled something about watching where she was going. Lys ignored it for now, finally reaching the exit. If she left the Temple and went out into the streets she’d be safe for now.

Annika entered the room, a brush in one hand, looking around. “Lysthea, have you seen your sister?”

Lysthea pointed towards the door that went outside and Annika left, going back to the chase. Sure, it was a bit mean to tell where her twin was, but it was funny to see Lys after their mom got to her when she was feeling creative. First Lys would say no, then feel guilty about doing so, and then run for her life after coming to her senses. Annika would almost always find her sister, for Lys only knew a few places around here to hide.

A standard hour later, Annika walked back into the Room Behind the Waterfall, dragging a very reluctant Lys behind her. Lys was pleading for Annika to let her go. “Come on Annika! Please? Anyways I don’t have enough hair! Choose Thea!! Choose anyone else!! Just let me go!”

Lysthea just giggled to herself.
