Help In The Strangest Places

Written by Guarudeanu Souru/Corellian Knight

"Don't worry yourself. In time, you will remember who you really are, Souru," the platinum-blond-haired man said.

It was now several months later, and the platinum-blond-haired man was watching Souru again. He then jumped down from the window ledge that looked into Souru's apartment. "On to stage one," he quietly told himself as he walked over to the visitor-tenant video phone. He pressed the button to Souru's room. Souru hesitated and answered the phone on the fifth ring.

"Hello, who is this?" Souru asked as he looked at the man's picture on the screen.

"Hello, my name is Kuja - I am a friend of Tenshi's," the man replied, trying not to smirk.

"What can I do for you, Mr. Kuja?" Souru asked.

"Tenshi wishes to talk to you," Kuja told him.

"Really? When?" Souru asked excitedly.

"Tomorrow night, around eight at the STC cantina," Kuja said, still trying not to smirk.

"All right, thank you and good night," Souru said just before shutting the video phone down.

"Good night, and good luck," Kuja said just before bursting out in laugther as he walked into the night.

Souru had dressed up in a white suit-like getup for his meeting with Tenshi. He had seen her a few times in the past few months and remembered the doctor said his name was Souru also. He wanted to help her because of her pregnancy and had wanted to move into the Jedi Temple to be near her if anything happened. Reluctantly she gave him her husband's old room, the one he had before they moved in together. Souru and Tenshi had become close leading up to the birth of Tenshi's son. Everything was turning around for him. As he walked into the STC Cantina, he could see Tenshi sitting in a booth near the back wall. Just as he was going to go sit with Tenshi, Kuja appeared in front of him. Souru wasn't sure where he had come from - he must of been sitting at the bar or something, because no one can just appear out of thin air.

"Hello Souru, can I talk to you outside for a second? It's about Mrs. Tenshi," Kuja asked him.

"Alright," Souru replied. They stepped outside the enterance and took a step to the right. "Is Tenshi alright?" Souru asked, with a hint of concern in his voice.

"I don't know, you tell me," Kuja said as he brought his right fist up into Souru's stomach. Souru stumbled backwards from the blow.

"What... did you do that for?" Souru said, grasping for air.

"You and Tenshi can never get back together, Souru. I won't let it happen while I'm still around," Kuja responded as he brought his left foot up to the right side of Souru's face, causing him to fall to the ground on one knee and support himself with his right hand. "There's no way I'm going to let the Corellian Knight and Sailor Yavin VI stop me as they stopped Kai," Kuja said angrily as he kicked Souru's right hand out from underneath him and he fell with a thud against the sidewalk. Kai was Souru's older brother who had tried to kill him and take the power of the Corellian Knight - but what did Souru have to do with Kai's downfall? "You're weak, Souru. How did you ever manage to defeat Kai?" Kuja said mockingly as he kicked Souru again, this time just under his right arm, and Souru screamed out in pain.

Tenshi was enjoying her imported Mountain Dew when she heard a scream from outside and decided to take a look. She got up from her seat and headed out the front door to see what was going on. When she got out there she gasped at the scene before her, Souru lying on the sidewalk and Kuja laughing in front of him. "What are you doing to him? Stop it!!" Tenshi yelled at Kuja as she bent down to help Souru.

"How sweet, you help your weak little Souru," Kuja said. Then he did the unthinkable - he shot an energy towards Tenshi, causing her to black out and fall next to Souru on the sidewalk.

Something flickered - something deep inside Souru flickered; seeing someone inflict pain to Tenshi brought pain to his heart... a pain that brought everything with it, memories, love and everything he knew of himself before the explosion on Kai's ship. All Souru could do was smile. "Hey Kuja, I have a question for you," Souru asked Kuja after making sure Tenshi was okay.

"What do you want, weakling? I don't even know why I'm here - it's pointless to bother with someone so weak," Kuja responded.

Souru smiled again. "How about turning me back to the way I was." He smiled again. "I promise you, if I were the way I was before, I would be a whole lot better and I can give you the fight you want - so how's 'bout it?" Souru asked, his smile never fading.

"I do want to see the man who beat Kai and have a real fight. Alright Souru, I'll help you back to the way you were, but don't expect me to help you ever again," Kuja said.

"Don't worry, I won't - and thank you. But first, let me put her inside," Souru said regarding Tenshi. He got up, painfully and slowly, and gently picked Tenshi up and rested her down on a cot in the back room of the Cantina, with the owner's persmission. He than went back out front to Kuja.

"Alright Souru, this is the only time I help you. Now let's get this over with," Kuja said.

"Thank you, Kuja," Souru replied. Kuja started to blast Souru with strange beams of light. "Goodbye, new look - I'm sorry it didn't work out," Souru said as he was engulfed by a bright white light.

Later that day, back at the Jedi Temple, Tenshi woke with a slight headache in her and Souru's room. She slowly got up from the bed and went to the kitchen for a drink of water. While drinking the water, she had remembered what happened earlier on. She had gone out to see who was screaming and found Souru lying on the ground with a man she had seen somewhere before and... Souru, she thought. I hope he's okay. With that, she went next door, to the room she had given Souru before they moved in together, and rang the doorbell. The door opened, but nobody was there. "Souru, are you here?" Tenshi asked.

"Yeah, just a second, I'll be right out," he said, but there was something different about his voice. It seemed... normal. "Tenshi, close your eyes for a minute please. I have a surprise for you," he said from his bedroom.

"Alright, but don't scare me this time," she responded as she closed her eyes.

"Alright, you can open them now," he said, standing in the bedroom doorway, looking at her. She opened her eyes and couldn't believe the man standing in front of her. It Souru alright, the old Souru with the long platinum-blond hair, the Souru she orginally fell in love with, the Souru who was her husband, the Souru she could feel in the Force, and not the red-haired man who said he was Souru.

"You... you're back!" she said as tears streamed down her face.

"In a way I never left - I've been here the past few months but never really remembered who I was," he told her.

"But... but how?" she asked, tears still streaming down her face.

"People have always said that you find help in the strangest places, and if I told you, you wouldn't believe it," he said, with that smirk he always had. She ran to him, wrapped her arms around him and started to cry on his left shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and gently stroked her hair. "It's okay, I'm here. And believe me, I never want to go through that again," he said as he kissed her forehead. "I love you, Tenshi," he said, looking down at her.

She looked up at him, and their eyes met. "I love you too, Souru," she said, and they kissed. Everything was finally back to normal. Souru himself was back.
