Nick of Time

"No matter how you look at it, I was right," the blonde girl jokingly said.

"I don’t think so. You miscalculated the landing position! We almost crashed Priire!" the redhead standing next to her threw her head back and laughed.

"Oh, come on Ippin, at least we’re here, right?"

"That’s right, and we’re going to have fun too, remember?"

"Of course! This is the first holiday we’ve had. Where did everyone else decide to go anyway?," Priire asked the girl who walked beside her.

"Numa-chan and Kumo-chan went to see the rain forests. Zyta and Kirin went to a local sweet shop. I’m not sure about everyone else," Kyoko informed the group.

All the girls were happy to finally have a rest from fighting. They had spent that past week on a small, isolated planet fighting the Sailor Sith. It was Numa-chan who brought up the subject of a vacation. She was watching holo-vids about popular tourist locations, and was intrigued by Yuga II. With it’s tropical rain forests and humid swamp lands, it seemed perfect. "Remind me of Dagobah, it does. Go we must!"

So, thanks to Priire’s unusually bumpy landing, the Sailor Senshi were having fun on a peaceful planet with no danger to worry about.

"Hey, wait-up!," a voice from behind them called. It was Kirin. She and Zyta were running fast to catch up.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Priire sighed.

Suddenly, a tall white haired girl ran into Zyta causing them both to trip and fall to the ground. "Sorry," the strange girl offered before standing and running away.

"That was weird," Priire said to the two out of breath girls who now stood before them.

"Not as weird as what’s going on in Creita 7," Kirin exclaimed, still trying to catch her breath.

"What’s Creita 7?," Ippin asked.

"It’s one of the rain forests. Numa-chan called us on the Commlink. Something is stealing the energy of everyone that gets too close to the heart of the rain forest, Creita 1," Zyta said as she still dusted dirt off of her clothes.

"Youma?," Ippin wondered.

"I’m not sure, we’d better go check it out, just in case."

The girls ran the length to the gates of Creita 7. They were greeted by Sailor Bespin and Sailor Dagobah.

"I think you should all transform," Bespin told them.

"Why? What’s in there?," Priire asked. Sailor Bespin didn’t have time to answer her. Terrified screams and loud crashes emanated from deep within the forest. The girls looked at each other and transformed quickly. Zyta into Sailor Tatooine, Kirin into Sailor Hoth, Priire into Sailor Asteroid and Ippin into Sailor Yavin. They didn’t hesitate before running through the vines and heavy overgrowth. Priire was beginning to think they were lost among the swamp-like atmosphere when a scream came from behind a grouping of trees.

"Look! Over there!," Yavin pointed to a large, blue, watery creature. Immediately Priire moved to attack, "Asteroid Shower Pow-"

"Wait," Sailor Hoth interrupted. She gestured at the creature. It had stopped moving and had developed a solid shell.

"Frozen it is," Numa-chan whispered. Everyone stood still for a moment, puzzled.

"Do you think this is its attack position?," Bespin wondered.

Sailor Tatooine shook her head, "I don’t think it saw us. It seemed to be trying to attack something else. I don’t think it meant to freeze."

"Then what caused it?" A soft noise drew the Sailor’s attention back to the Youma. Small points of silver light poked through the ice encasing the living thing. It exploded with a terrific flash of light. The Senshi shielded their eyes but not before catching a glimpse of a shadowy figure ducking through the vines. They exchanged looks, no one sure of what to do.

"What just happened? What was that thing?," Tatooine asked.

"I don’t know on both counts. But whatever the Youma was, you can bet there are more of them," Priire said definitely.

"What, or who was that other figure? The one that ran off? Did anyone get a clear view?"

"I saw it, whatever it was left quickly. I wonder if it’s on our side? It did destroy the Youma," suggested Sailor Hoth. The girls sighed.

Sailor Dagobah, who had been walking around the area, ran over to the group clutching something. "Piece of crystal this is. Analyze it we must." She thrust out her hand to reveal what looked like a piece of glass. It was from whatever was surrounding the blue thing.

"I cannot believe this! We were supposed to be relaxing!" Priire put extra emphasis on the last word. They all sat in Priire’s freighter, ‘The Black Fire Dreamer.’ The main computer was busy processing the tiny fragment of crystal Sailor Dagobah found. Ippin sat in a chair with her arms folded. None of the Senshi were pleased about foregoing their break. However, as Tuxedo Jedi pointed out, their duties fighting the Dark Side and protecting the innocent always came first. That didn’t stop Priire and Ippin from pouting.

The control panel started beeping. "It’s done." Kumo-chan walked over to read the information off the screen. "Ah-ha…here we go…" the others gathered around, "according to this, that piece of crystal is very rare and is only found on a small Outer Rim planet. There is a local legend about it too. Apparently, the crystal was formed when an ancient soldier cried over the body of her dead love. Her tears became the crystals."

"How sad," Kirin said.

"What’s the planet?" Zyta asked.

"Um," Kumo-chan scanned the screen, "Bakura."

"Bakura? How did that crystal get halfway across the galaxy and into a Yuga II rain forest?

"Your guess is as good as mine."

"What a mess! How dare you let the Sailor Senshi defeat you?" Kendra paced the floor with her hands firmly on her hips. Her face was flushed and she her brow was furrowed. Two other women, also Sailor Sith, stood in front of her. Their heads were bowed respectfully.

"Your incompetence is amazing. I’ve never been so embarrassed! You promised me, Areil, that the Raannu were almost indestructable," she said pointing an accusing finger at one of the girls.

"They were supposed to be, I don’t understand. Their physiology is mostly liquid, any attack thrown at them will pass straight through them."

Emi came to the help of her friend, "Besides, Kendra, the Senshi never attacked! I saw them. They just stood there looking stupid. As always."

Kendra put her hand up to her head and sighed. She started pacing again, her red and white hair flowed behind her. "Get out of my sight and figure out a better plan. Now!"

Areil and Emi walked out to the corridor. "They didn’t attack at all Emi?"

"No. They started to…but then something happened to the Raannu. It just exploded on its own."

The two Sailor Sith were puzzled.

Mori and Koumi sat studying a book of known Youma. Although there were several water-types, none of them matched the thing Zyta described, and none of them were ever reported on Yuga II. "Maybe we should ask around, there could be someone here that knows something," Koumi said. Mori agreed. They passed a still upset Priire on the way back into town. She was carrying a small bag.

"What’s in the bag?," Mori asked her.

Priire smiled, "Cake." Figured. They all laughed. Koumi grabbed Priire’s arm.

"Ow."

"Shh. Is that…?," she nodded her head in the direction of a group of young female Twi’leks. Mori and Priire looked over just in time to see Ariel slip around a corner.

"Why am I not surprised to find the Sailor Sith are involved? Come on," Priire started walking after her.

"Wait a minute. She wants us to follow her, I can sense it. She’s got something planned. We should go inform everyone else." Priire knew she was right. They ran back to the docking bay.

The trio was interested to learn that Mara had found out the name of the Youma in the rain forest while they were gone.

"It’s called a Raannu. It is made up almost completely of water, and it can only survive on Dark Side energy."

"Dark Side energy? That must mean the Sailor Sith are connected in some way," Kyoko said.

"They are, we just saw Areil," Mori told the collected group of Sailors.

"Great. Some vacation," Ippin interjected, "Hey, do you think it was one of the Sailor Sith we saw this morning in Creita 7?"

"Why would they help us? Unless it was a trap. Maybe we’re supposed to think that someone is helping us. We’ll let our guard down, and that’s when they’ll attack," Mara said. The girls thought about it.

"Either way, let’s split up to find the Sith. They have to be here somewhere. Kouga Ada’s ego is too big to let the others pull off something like this. She’s here too," Kirin said. They all knew it was true. And they were excited about the possibility of finally catching Kendra, the Evil Queen.

"Let’s go."

"But what about my cake?," Priire wondered. Ippin elbowed her. "Ow!"

"Stupid Kendra. Why is she the Queen anyway? I’d make a better Queen that she does. Why she has us out here, I don’t know. What are we searching for, did she tell you?," Emi hissed. Areil shook her head.

"You’re sure the Senshi saw you?"

"Well, not sure…but I walked the streets all day. You wouldn’t believe how much my feet hurt. If they didn’t see me, they are dumber than I give them credit for."

They were tripping on vines and merrily squishing small bugs. The midday heat was blistering and both girls were dripping with sweat. Every now and again they would pick up a rock to inspect the ground under it.

Kendra had sent them to Creita 6. Areil had a sneaking suspicion they were merely bait for the Sailor Senshi. "Did you bring your Henshin stick?"

Emi’s eyes widened, "No." Without the Henshin sticks they really were bait. They both turned around and started running back to the Sith’s hidden base in Creita 1, but ran into Sailor Bespin instead.

"Going somewhere girls?"

"As a matter of fact, yes, we were just going to…um…," Areil sighed when Sailors Asteroid and Vjun joined their friend Bespin. Kendra had set them up. Emi’s blood boiled.

"Black Hole Engulf!," yelled a voice from behind them.

The Senshi jumped into the bushes and narrowly avoided the Sailor Sith attack.

"Geri?," Emi asked. It was Sailor Sith Iyagaru. She was stranded on another planet, but always seemed to show up at the right moment.

"Who else? Let’s get out of here. These rain forests are crawling with Senshi," she spit out the words. She noticed the three Sailors standing up and thought a diversion was in order. She closed her eyes and transferred some of her energy to the ground. Small blue, watery, Raannu formed all over, giving the Sailor Sith time to escape.

"Sithspit!," Sailor Asteroid yelled. They quickly found that the Raannu weren’t easily dispatched. Asteroid’s Asteroid Shower Power flew right through the watery blob. They advanced, and the girls were forced to back up.

"Vjun Lightening Power!" The lightening bolts of her attack electrified several of the closer Raannu and they dissolved back into the terra.

"Sailor Bespin, use Carbonite Freeze, then I’ll attack," Priire shouted.

"Bespin Carbonite Freeze!" The girls watched as the remaining Youma were enclosed in solid carbonite.

"Asteroid Shower Power!" The Raannu were obliterated by the dozens of small asteroids.

"That wasn’t so bad," Sailor Bespin said causing the other two to laugh.

Kendra sat in a high backed chair facing a clear globe. She placed her hands around it to help her harness the power of the Dark Side. She was sensing strange new powers on the planet. She was glad she changed her mind and sent for Geri. She would be necessary when they defeated the Sailors. Emi and Areil had assured her their plan with the Raannu would work. Things weren’t going smoothly. Now, she sensed a new threat.

Geri had a plan of her own for getting the Sailors. She shared her ideas with Emi and Areil, who were both impressed and willing to try it.

Kendra was pleased.

"Certain we are now about the Sailor Sith," Numa-chan said. All the Senshi were sitting on a small patio eating dinner. The docking bay had restricted access to ship because of faulty wiring in one of their mechanisms. So, it was decided that dinner outside might be nice. The night time air was cool and clean. In the sky, millions of stars were visible as well as Yuga I and several other close planets.

"But what are they doing here? Just stealing little bits of energy doesn’t seem like something they’d do," Ippin said.

"Ah, but you’ve forgotten the incredible amount of energy on this planet. Eventually they could amass enough energy to gain new attacks.

That’s what we need to stop them from doing," Zyta reminded them. They fell silent in realisation that Zyta was right. They couldn’t let the Sailor Sith get more powerful. They were all tired and ready for sleep, when a loud crash seized their attention.

Emi, Geri and Areil must have been bored, because they had transformed into Sailors Sith Eimin, Iyagaru, and Ayameru, and were throwing dishes and tables around. Frightened diners ran away when they saw the evil that lurked in the eyes of the three girls. They looked at each other and set their plan in motion. Iyagaru leapt onto a low hanging tree branch, then catapulted onto the patio where the Senshi were eating. She now stood behind them. Eimin and Ayameru separated and the three of them formed a triangle around all of the Sailors. They placed their hands to the ground and an army of Raannu rose up. They were now surrounded by an army and were trapped.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I can’t believe you fell for it. It was easy, you know? All I had to do was jam a single hydrospanner into single control panel to shut down the docking bay. Then, to add idiocy to idiocy, you all chose to eat together. All of you," it was the voice of Kendra, who was now changed into Kouga Ada, "You were aware of our magnificent presence on this planet, yet you ignored the threat and now you pay the price." She smiled an evil smile and laughed slightly. Her figure appeared between Eimin and Ayameru. She stood triumphantly. She raised her arms to attack the Sailor Senshi.

"Stop right there!"

Kouga Ada spun her head to see who belonged to the voice. A tall, white-haired girl stood on one of the tables. To the surprise of everyone she was wearing a pink, black and white Sailor Senshi uniform.

Eimin and Iyagaru shrugged their shoulders at each other, they had no idea who the mysterious girl was. Neither did Kouga Ada, "Who are you?"

"On behalf of Love and Peace, I am the pretty sailor suited Senshi, Sailor Bakura! And in the name of Bakura, you’ll be punished!"

"Bakura? So that’s how that crystal got here!," Priire said.

"Isn’t that the girl you ran into yesterday Zyta?," Kirin wondered.

"I think. So she’s a Senshi?"

"Bakura Crystallization Freeze!" The unexpected attack froze Kouga Ada where she stood. Ayameru, Eimin, and Iyagaru rushed to her defence, allowing the rest of the Sailors to transform. Sailor Sith Ayameru used her "Black Fire Engulf" to break the crystal cocoon around the Evil Queen. They stood ready to combine their energy to annihilate Sailor Bakura when Kouga Ada said to Eimin, "If you’re here, who’s guarding the other Senshi?" They all turned and noticed that not only had the Sailors effectively destroyed the Raannu, but were now standing only feet away.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, it seems you’ve underestimated us…again. Now you pay the price," Sailor Asteroid said.

Faced with all the Senshi, Kouga Ada smiled and batted her eyelashes. "My, my, look at the time, we really must be going. It’s a shame we can’t stay, but you know how things are, always busy." Before anyone had an opportunity to stop her, Kouga Ada used her Force power to open a warp tunnel and the four Sailor Sith dissappered into it.

Sailor Bakura ran over to the group of Senshi. She had been looking for them for so long, and had barely missed meeting them a few weeks earlier. She was overwhelmed at the number of them. So many new friends.

After they reversed the their transformations, they all gave introductions and shook hands.

"My name is Annika Nesicha. It’s so wonderful to meet you finally!"

"Our family has a new member," Kirin noted.

"Yes it does," Mori said.

"You know what this means don’t you?," Priire asked, "It means we can finally try to have some fun!"

"Good point! Do you like rain forests Annika? What about cake?"

"Hey! I just bought that cake Ippin!"

"What ever happened to sharing?"

"Sharing is fine, as long as I get the first, and biggest piece," Priire said, causing everyone including herself to laugh.

"We’ll just see about that," Ippin grabbed Annika’s hand and they took off running.

"Sithspit!" Priire ran after them warning them they had better not touch the part with the most icing on it.

"Well, everything is back to normal," Mara said. The other Senshi nodded their heads in agreement.
