Fallen Jedi

Written by Sith Charming/Darth Syn

Sara had just gotten back from a mission she had been on for almost two years. She had heard about Qui-Gon's death and wished she had been there for Obi-Wan; they had been good friends since being in the creche together. His life had changed so much in the last two years; he had lost his master, became a knight, taken a padawan, and gotten a girlfriend.

She couldn't wait to get to the Temple because she missed Temple life so much. She would be taking her own trials soon, and then she would be a knight just like Obi-Wan. Her master had thought she would be able to take her trials in a couple of weeks, but he would have to talk to the Council about it first.

Her ship was to dock at ten pm, and the first thing she was going to do was sleep. She hadn't had much sleep in several months, and she was in need of a good night's rest. In the morning, they would have to report to the Council and give their report on the mission. Her master had been injured during the end of their mission, but nothing a few hours in the bacta tank wouldn't take care of. She had already called ahead to the Temple to tell them know that they would be landing in ten minutes so could they have the healers at the docking bay waiting for them when they arrived.

When they finally did land, the healers and Mace Windu were waiting for them. As soon as they landed, the healers took her master to the healing dome. While Sara and Mace walked behind them, they talked about how successful the mission had been and how her master had gotten injured. When they got to the healer dome, they put her master in a bacta tank; she couldn't stand the bacta tanks because they made you feel like you couldn't breathe, and all you saw was red liquid when you woke up. Plus you had to be put into deep sleep so you could heal. The healers told her that her master was going to be alright, and in a couple of hours he would be able to come out of the bacta tank, but they would keep him over night to make sure he was okay.

They had told Sara she could either stay there with him until he came out, or go to her quarters. She told them she would be returning to her quarters and would be back later to check on her master. Sara told Mace and the healers good night and then headed back to her quarters for a good night's sleep.

The sun was coming up and Sara could see it rise through the window. She decided before meeting with the Council that morning, she would see how her master was doing. Getting dressed, she headed down to the healing dome. On her way down, she ran into a pink-haired girl who wasn't paying much attention - she seemed more lost in thought than anything - and she bumped into Sara by accident. Sara had never seen her before, so she thought the girl was a padawan.

"Look where you're going, padawan. And where is your master?"

"I'm sorry, miss, I wasn't paying attention, and I'm a Sailor scout so we don't have masters."

"Oh, I'm Sara by the way, and I'm glad to meet you. I heard about you guys, but you are the first one I've met since I got back from my mission. I've been gone almost two years now."

"I'm Annika, and I had things on my mind."

"I know what you mean - I'm on my way to the healer dome to see how my master is doing because he was injured a few days ago."

"I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he's doing okay. I'll let you be on your way so you can see how your master is doing. I'll chat with you later."

And with that Annika took off, leaving Sara staring after her. She wasn't really worried about the girl and what was wrong with her; she just wanted to know how her master was doing, so she continued on her way to the healer dome. When she got there, she talked to Healer Meade to see how her master was doing.

"Healer Meade, how's my master doing this morning?"

"He doing fine, Sara. He's out of the bacta tank, and he's in a room right now. Would you like to see him?"

"Yes, I would, if that is possible."

"Follow me."

They walked to the room that her Master was in, but Meade had to get back to work. Sara knocked on the door to see if her master was awake. When he told me to enter, she went in.

"Good morning, master. How are you feeling today?"

"I'm feeling much better after I had been in the bacta tank for awhile."

"I was on my way down to the Council chambers to give our report on our mission, and I thought I would drop by to see how you were doing first, Master."

"I'm doing well and I wish I could go with you, but I'm not completely healed so I can't go, but I know you will do a fine job giving our report."

"Yes, Master. I'll stop by later and see how you are doing and if they will let you come home."

"Okay, Sara, then I'll see you later then."

"Bye, Master."

"Bye, Sara."

Sara left her master's room and headed for the Council chambers to give the report. Thinking she would only be in there for an hour or so, Sara quickly found out she was wrong and was in there longer than she thought she would be. When she finally got done, Sara made her way down the corridor and ran into another padawan, who was chatting away to the girl next to him.

"I'm sorry, miss - I didn't mean to bump into you. Let me help you up," Anakin said while offering his hand to Sara.

"Thank you, but that's okay, you're just the second one I happened to bump into today. I feel like I'm out of place here."

"Sara, you're back," Obi-Wan said, coming around the corridor.

"Hi, Obi. Long time, no see."

"I see you ran into my padawan." He grinned.

"Oh, this is your padawan? Hi, I'm Sara."

"Hi, I'm Anakin and this..." He pointed to the girl next to him. "...is Ippin."

"Nice to meet you, Ippin."

"Nice to meet you, Sara."

"Sara's an old friend of mine - she been gone on a mision for two years now. Where's your master, Sara?"

"He's in the healing dome. He was injured during the last few days of our mission. He just came out of the bacta tank, and he's doing all right. I was just with the Council giving them the report on our mission."

"I'm sorry to hear your master was injured. Are you on your way to see him?"

"Yes, I was on my way to see him before I ran into Anakin," she laughed.

"Why don't I walk with you so we can get caught up on old times?"

"That sounds nice, Obi."

Obi-Wan told Anakin he would meet him later, and then he and Sara went to the healing dome to see her master.

For the next few weeks, Sara had been trying to get back into Temple life. She had missed so much since she was gone, and there were so many Sailor Scouts there now. Obi-Wan and Ani had introduced her to them, and she found out that the girl she had run into was Obi-Wan's girlfriend. Sara was glad that everything was going fine for her right now.

Sara's master had talked to the Council to see if she could take the trials, and they had agreed; in a few days, she would be taking them. She had told Obi and Ani about taking her trials, and they were happy for her.

The day of her trials, she had gotten up early and went to the garden to meditate before she took her trials. She happened to find Annika and Nom in the garden, talking. She went to the other side of the garden to meditate. She wanted to make sure her head was clear when she took her trials; she didn't want anything districting her. After spending almost an hour meditating, she went to the Council chambers for her trials. Her master had already left the planet the day before, after the Council severed their training bond. She was still feeling weird about not having her training bond with her master, and she wouldn't be seeing him again until after she passed the trials. The trials were part of the Jedi Code, and she knew she had to do it, even if she didn't like it. When she got to the Council chambers, only Master Yoda and Master Windu were in there. She had gone in when Master Yoda told her to enter.

"Ready to take your trials, are you?"

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"Frightened, you are?"

"No, Master Yoda."

"Given a mission without your master, you will be."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"Succeed on the mission, you will."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"Fail the mission, fail your trials, you will."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"Your mission will be to make sure the senator gets to the Outer Rim without getting killed and back safely. Stay with him while he speaks to the leader there. Keep him safe. These are your trials."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"You will be back here in three weeks' time."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"You leave within the hour."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

"You are dismissed."

"Yes, Master Yoda."

And with that, Sara left on her mission to escort a senator to the Outer Rim. But she didn't know that she was going to fail her mission.

The first part of the journey to the Outer Rim was smooth and light; they encountered no real dangers, save the occasional asteroid shower. Sara sat quietly next to the senator, trying to focus her skills on her task, but was having considerable difficulties, as the diplomatic humanoid next to her seemed more interested in gawking at Sara's physical appearance.

"So," he snorted, "why is such a pretty girl wearing such disgusting garments? You should show off your talents." He smiled, showing a mouth full of crooked teeth. His breath was ripe with Intergalactic Gargle Blasters, and his light orange skin was covered in sticky sweat. Sara tried to be nice and smile, but the more he drooled over her physique, the more she wanted this mission to be over.

Senator Trog grunted when Sara refused to answer him. "You are rude! Maybe I should tell your master about this mistreatment?"

"No!" Sara stammered. "I apologise. Forgive my impoliteness, Senator." She started to panic; she couldn't fail! She couldn't disappoint her master. "Is there anything I can do to make up for my behaviour?"

"Aa! That's more like it!" Senator Trog slapped his knee in appreciation. "Why don't you relax a bit and have a drink with me?"

"The Jedi do not drink, sir."

"Who cares about the Jedi? Drink with me! Or I will report you to Master Yoda himself!"

Sara was shocked - she didn't know what to do. This was definitely the hardest assignment she'd ever been given. She didn't have much time to think because the Senator had already ordered over a serving girl and two large, blue, swirling drinks. Sara reluctantly curled her fingers around the warm glass and lifted it to her lips.

A large blast rocked the ship, knocking the drink to the floor. Senator Trog howled in anger and quickly fastened his seatbelt. Sara grabbed her lightsaber and focused her attention on the rapid-fire blaster bolts that racked the cruiser. Racing down the corridor, Sara entered the cockpit to find the pilot dead and the co-pilot near death. Sara was skilled in flying this type of cruiser; that wasn't the problem. But the computer had short-circuited, throwing off the navigation system, and several space pirates had just made their way on board.

Sara saw that they were Zexx, a fearsome species known the galaxy over for their ruthlessness. Using the skills she had learned from the Jedi, she quickly assessed their intentions. They, like all other pirates, wanted nothing more than to plunder then destroy; this time was no exception. Igniting her lightsaber, Sara rushed forward. She managed to disarm one of the pirates with skill. Rounding on another, she brought the hilt of her saber up and smashed it against his head, disabling him. The last Zexx however, proved to be wise and cunning; he distracted Sara by levelling two blaster barrels at her face, then firing. Her lightsaber easily deflected the shots, but it required massive levels of concentration, so much so that she failed to sense the presence of another recently-boarded pirate. The last thing she remembered was hearing a click.

Some time later, Sara awoke in a cold holding cell. On the back of her head, a small patch of dried blood had clotted her hair. I must've been hit with something, she figured. She wearily stood and limped over to the bars. She was on the pirate ship - two large Zexx officers stood guard - and Sara cursed herself for not having better control over the situation. Frantically, she probed the rest of the ship with her mind, searching for the senator. She sighed in relief when she realised he was in the cell next to hers. Her hand instinctively flew for her lightsaber, but it was gone - stolen by the Zexx.

Examining the locking mechanism, she was happy to notice that it was at least twenty standard years old and was easily manipulated. Sara waved her hand in the direction of the guards.

"Come on," one of them said, "these two aren't going anywhere tonight. Let's go eat."

Sara breathed easily once more as the rather large guards left the room. Another wave of her hand, and the door to her cell swung open. Quietly, she gazed in at the senator. He was snoring loudly but seemed to be in good condition. Sara used the Force to open the lock to his holding cell.

"Senator," she whispered, waking him. "Senator, we have to leave. Be quiet."

He roared, "This is an outrage! How dare you allow me to be taken hostage? Rest assured, I will speak to the Council personally!!"

"Senator, please! We have to be quiet, otherwise the guards will return. I'm going to get you out of here." She helped him to his feet, and he happily leaned against her sturdy, strong frame. Her lightsaber was still nowhere to be seen, so she would have to rely on other means of escape. All pirate ships have escape pods just in case the law should decide to stop in for a visit. Sara knew that would be their only way out.

Feeling her path before her using the Force, Sara was surprised when she was grabbed from behind and dragged into a dark room. The senator was left to his own defence, which Sara knew would be death. Sirens blared as the prison break was discovered. Sara beat on the door and tried to use the Force to open it, but was failing. She was panicking, not concentrating, and her face broke out in a sweat. It was then she felt another's presence.

She had been so caught up in trying to save the senator; she hadn't taken the time to worry about herself. The room was dark, black as oil, and there was no sound. Sara closed her eyes and quickly located the perpetrator who grabbed her.

"Who are you? You're not a Zexx!" she yelled to a dark corner.

An exotic, rich sounding voice said, "That I am not. My name is Sith Charming, and I'm here to rescue you."

For a moment, Sara thought this still-unseen person was crazy; why and how would a Sith get on board a space pirate ship?

"I don't know who you are, and I don't care. Open this door, now!" she stated. Her mission was on the line; if the senator died, she would not become a Jedi... she couldn't lose her lifelong dream.

"That's another reason why I'm here, Sara - you don't mind if I call you Sara, do you? Good. Listen, Sara, I'm here to offer you a better position than that of mere Jedi. I want you to join me. You have the Force talent - you shouldn't waste it on the Jedi."

Sara ignored him and pulled on the door. The sirens grew louder, as did the senator. He was making strange barking sounds that signalled his great fear. Sara's heart grew cold as the sound of advancing guards filled the outside hallway. She winced and fell to her knees as the guards opened fire, killing the senator.

Sith Charming said, "Look at it this way, at least he can't report you now."

Sara cried. She cried because she knew she had disappointed her master and the Council. She knew Master Yoda would tell her she could never become a Jedi. The Sith now standing beside her smirked. "Well? You can't be a Jedi, who cares? The Jedi are nothing but cowardly womp rats. The Sith are the true power in the galaxy."

"That's not true!" Sara sniffled. "I should've been prepared, I shouldn't have let this happen!" She felt all her resolve filter away, and she was left heartbroken. What would her master say?

"Come with me, Sara. Join me, join the Dark Side."

Sara stared at him, into his beautiful, deceptive eyes. He stretched out a hand to her. Sith Charming opened a bolthole, and they stepped through together.

Sara and Sith Charming came out of the bolthole. Sara looked around and noticed that they were on Badlands, her home planet.

"Why did you bring me here? To show my family how much of a failure I am?"

"This is my home planet. I brought you here to my home."

Sara and Sith Charming walked for a while until they came to a nice place out of the way, so no one could see them.

"This is my home and no one will bother us here."

"So, what do you want from me?"

"I want you to join me, Sara and turn to the Dark Side with me."

"NO! Never I'm a Jedi. Even though I failed my mission I will still go back to the Temple and take my punishment like a true Jedi. I stand for the Light Side and I will never turn to the Dark Side."

Sith Charming looked into Sara's eyes. Sara couldn't stop looking into his eyes. She felt like she if she looked away he would hurt her.

"You will join me, Sara. You will turn to the Dark Side."

"I will join you. I will turn to the Dark Side."

Sith Charming had just gotten Sara to turn to the Dark Side with his evil stare. He had her in his grip; anything he wanted her to do, she would. He had a plan to get rid of the Sailor Scouts two at a time now, with Sara's help. But first he had to train her in the Dark ways first.

"Come with me, Sara, to my place. We need to talk."

"Yes, Darth Syn. Letss go to your place."

So Sara and Darth Syn went to his place. They sat down in the common room, and he told her that she needed to train in the ways of the Dark Side so she could beat the Jedi, but he also told her that when he finished training her in the Dark Side, then she should go back to the Jedi and kidnap two of the Sailor Scouts without anyone knowing, by being friends with them and getting them to trust her and then have them go out with her on a secret mission for Master Yoda. But he also told her that she had to convince everyone that she didn't fail her trials and didn't know what happened to the senator because she was injured really bad. But he told her he would give her the rest of the details when it got closer to the time to go back to the Jedi. When he got done explaining his plan to her, he told her to go upstairs and get some sleep because in the morning they were going to start her training.

Morning came, and Darth Syn was already up and made breakfast for himself and Sara. He then called to Sara to come down and eat. They ate breakfast in silence. After they were finished, Sara and Darth Syn want to his training room in the basement. It was cold, damp, dark, and it had a funny smell to it. Sara felt very uncomfortable down there, and she told Darth Syn how she felt, but he convinced her that it was all in her mind. He had her in his control now, and he felt like he could wipe out all the Jedi using Sara as his puppet, and she wouldn't know what was going on because he would keep her under his control all the time.

"I want to see your combat skills, Sara - but before we start, I would like to warm up first, if you don't mind."

"Not at all, Darth Syn."

"Good. We'll spend a few minutes warming up, and we can then see how your combat skills are."

"Yes, Darth Syn."

So Sara went and warmed up. When she was done, she and Darth Syn fought so he could find out how her combat skills were. He liked her skills even though they weren't perfect. He then went to the back room and went into the chest back there and took out a diamond whip.

"Try this out, Sara." He handed the diamond whip to Sara, and she just stared at it. She kept flipping it over in her hand.

"What is this for, Darth Syn?"

"It's your diamond whip, Sara."

"I don't remember having one."

"Well now you do, and I want you to use it. You can make the whip shrink by hitting this button right here."

He touched the button on the diamond whip, and the whip shrank to almost nothing. He told her to put it on her belt holster. For the next couple of hours, he trained her in everything he knew. He even showed her how to use the whip.

He had her where he wanted her - in his grip. Now only if he could get the Jedi in his grip too. When he was confident in her, he let her train on her own. He told her that he had to go somewhere and that he would be back by nightfall and he wanted her to workout for a while and then make him dinner, and by then he would be back. She understood what he wanted her to do, so he left her there to train.

He went to see what was going on at the Temple without getting to close so they couldn't catch him. He wanted to know if they were grieving over Sara or looking for her. He couldn't tell from where he was, but he didn't want to get any closer. He could see Obi-Wan, Anakin, Nom, Annika, and Ippin in the gardens talking, but he couldn't hear them. He decided that he needed to get out of there very fast because he saw Obi-Wan and Anakin grab for their lightsabers. He left and want back to the Badlands; when he got back, Sara was still working out with the diamond whip. She was getting better with it the longer she used it. He knew that soon she would be very good at it, and he couldn't wait to send her out and kidnap the Sailor Scouts so they could kill them. He had his plan all worked out. He had decided that she would fake losing her memory and she didn't know what had happened, and the only reason she was able to come back to the Temple was because someone found her and knew who she was, and she had thanked them and come to the Temple to find out who she was.

That would clear the memory loss, but if the healers looked at her, he would have another problem. They might find out that she was under a spell, but that was a chance he would have to take. He couldn't let them ruin his plan.

"I'm back, Sara."

"I'm almost done, Darth Syn. Was there anything else?"

"No, Sara, everything is fine. I went and checked on a friend, and he's doing much better. Why don't we go and get something to eat? I'm starved."

"Sure, Darth Syn."

Sara and Darth Syn left upstairs so they could go and have some dinner. When they got finished eating, he had explained his plan to her and told her that he was going to put a few bruises and cuts on her to make it look like she was in a fight with someone. He also reminded her that she was going to kidnap Renako and Tashita of the Sailor Scouts and bring them back to the Badlands so they could take care of them here, so the other Sailor Scouts wouldn't know what was going on. He wanted her to convince Renako and Tashita that they were going on a secret mission and they couldn't tell anyone about it. He was hoping they would fall for it. He told her that he was going to take her back to the Temple in the morning so they could get his plan underway.

"So do you understand everything I just explained to you, Sara?"

"I do understand, Darth Syn. I need to pretend I lost my memory and then kidnap Renako and Tashita. But I must bring them back here, pretending we are on a secret mission for Yoda."

"That's the plan. Now I want you to go up stairs and rest - you have a long day ahead of you."

"Yes, Darth Syn."

Sara then left upstairs to get some sleep. The next morning, Sara and Darth Syn had woke up early so they could get started on his plan. He bruised her face and back up and put cuts on her arms and legs. When he was sure that she looked bruised and cut enough, he then make sure her tunic and leggings were ripped also. After he was done, they went to his plane and headed back to Coruscant. It only took a couple of hours to get there, but while they were on their way there, he kept pounding the plan into Sara's head to make sure she understood what he wanted to happen. He was going to give her a week's time to complete this mission. He didn't think it would take that long if she followed through on the plan. When they docked, he left her at the docking bay and told her how to get to the Temple just in case she couldn't remember. He told her to contact him as soon as she had Renako and Tashita. He told her goodbye and left.

Sara was on her way to the Temple when she was stopped by a homeless boy begging for money. An idea came into her head - if she could get this homeless boy to take her back to the Temple then they would think he found her and brought her back and that would explain the person who found her.

"Hey little boy, I'll make a deal with you."

"For what?"

"I'll give you some credits if you come back with me to the Temple."

"What do I have to do?"

"Just tell them you found me roaming around the streets and you know that I'm a padawan at the Temple. I'll give you fifteen credits for doing it this for me."

"Oh, but what else do I need to say or do?"

"Nothing - just take me to the door and tell whomever is at the door that you found me and I didn't know who I was and then you can take off afterwards - no questions asked."

"Sounds good to me."

She handed the boy fifteen credits, and he walked her to the Temple. She had her arm connected to his like he was leading her. When they got to the Temple, Obi-Wan and Annika were just coming out when they saw the boy and Sara.

"Sir, I found this woman roaming the streets. She didn't know who she was, but I realized that she was a padawan at the Temple and brought her back here. We are here, Miss."

"Sara, are you alright?"

Sara looked at Obi-Wan like she didn't know who he was or who he was talking to. The boy started to back up.

"I need to go, if you don't need me anymore."

Before Obi-Wan could say anything, the boy ran off. Obi-Wan and Annika walked Sara into the Temple. They took her down to the healers because she was all bruised and cut up.

"Healer Meade, I need your help."

"What's wrong, Obi-Wan?"

"It's Sara. She was injured, and she doesn't even know who I am. Some boy had found her wondering the streets - before I could get more information from him, he took off."

"Sara, are you alright?"

"Who?"

"It's me, Healer Meade."

"Where am I?"

"You're at the Temple. It seems like she lost her memory. Contact Master Yoda while I check her over."

Meade and Annika took Sara into a room while Obi-Wan contacted Yoda and explain to him what had happened. Obi-Wan waited for Masters Yoda and Windu to come down. They waited in the waiting room for Meade to come and tell them what was going on. Yoda explained to Obi-Wan that she was sent on a mission to protect Senator Trog, who had a meeting on the Outer Rim. She and Senator Trog were heading for the Outer Rim, but their ship was hit and everyone on it was killed. The only problem was that they couldn't find Sara's or Senator Trog's bodies. From what they thought, pirates had hit the aircraft and taken Sara and Senator hostage. By the time he finished explaining to Obi-Wan what had happened, Meade and Annika both walked into the waiting room.

"It seems like Sara has lost her memory, Master Yoda. She doesn't know who she is or what happened. I have taken care of her bruises and cuts. Whatever happened, it looks like she escaped with her life."

"Nothing at all?"

"I'm afraid not. We can try and work with her and see if her memory comes back."

"That will take too long. Senator Trog is still missing, and we need to find out what has happened to him. He can be in great danger."

"I'm sorry. I can help you, Master Yoda. Sara doesn't remember anything, not even her own name."

Master Yoda understood what Meade was saying. He decided that they needed to send a search party out to find Senator Trog before it was too late for him. He decided to send some of the Sailor Scouts, along with Master Dor and his padawan. He thought that Obi-Wan should stay at the Temple because he was a friend of Sara's, and he could help Healer Meade help Sara in remembering what happened.

For the next three days, Meade, Obi-Wan and Annika all tried to help Sara remember who she was. She had started to remember bits and pieces of what happened, but she didn't know where the Senator was or what happened to him.

She was starting to get her memory back, but the Sailor Scouts, Dor, and his padawan didn't find Senator Trog. They looked everywhere, but found no leads to his whereabouts. They finally let Sara return to her quarters. Her master was away on a mission, so she was all by herself in her quarters. She decide to contact Darth Syn to see if she should convince them that they were helping her look for Senator Trog instead, because everyone was out looking for him. He told her that it was a good idea, but they needed to keep it quiet.

So later that night, Sara went to the Temple gym. Renako and Tashita were watching the padawans spar. She went up to them and asked if she could talk to them. She asked them for their help in finding Senator Trog because he was missing.

"So can you to help me in finding him?"

"But there are people already looking for him."

"But he was with me when I lost him, so if I back track my steps then we could find him much faster then the others can."

"But shouldn't we tell someone we are going to do this?"

"I agree with Renako on this one."

"I would like to, but I feel bad because I lost him, and I have to find him because if I don't, then I can never become a knight. Part of my trials was to protect Senator Trog, so I have to find him so I can complete my trials. Will you help please?"

"Well if you put it that way, I would love to help you."

"Me too."

So Sara had Renako and Tashita right were she wanted them. She told them that they should leave as soon as possible so they could get started in finding Senator Trog. But what Sara didn't know was that one of the padawans was listening to their conversation. They got Priire to let them use her Black Fire Dreamer, even though she wasn't sure if she should let them use it or not. They took off in Priire's ship and were heading for the Badlands. What Renako and Tashita didn't know was that Sara had just kidnapped them, and Priire had helped out without knowing that Sara was taking them to Darth Syn.

Renako was getting restless aboard the Black Fire Dreamer. Something wasn't right with Sara, but there was no definite answer in the Force. Renako exchanged glances with Tashita, as both girls were thinking the same thing. Something was seriously wrong.

"Where are we going anyway, Sara?" Tashita asked with a light-hearted tone.

"I told you, to find the Senator," Sara snapped from behind the pilot's controls. Tashita and Renako looked at each other again.

Tashita could feel Dark Side energy rolling in waves around the ship, but she wasn't sure if it was from inside or outside, and she didn't want to think one of her friends was the source of the ripple.

The navi-comp beeped, announcing the ship was nearing their destination - the Badlands.

"Sara, I thought," Renako said, "that the Senator disappeared nearer the "

"Forget him. We've got more important things to do now," Sara said. The Black Fire Dreamer cleared the atmosphere of the planet, and Sara steered it towards an outcropping - a makeshift docking bay.

Tashita bit her lip as her fears about Sara were becoming stronger. "What's more important than finding the Senator?"

"Oh, you know... capturing and killing the Senshi."

Before Renako or Tashita could do anything, Darth Syn materialised on board and attacked. Both girls were knocked unconscious, making them easy to transport to separate holding cells.

Sara felt no remorse or guilt about capturing fellow Jedi; she also felt no sympathy towards the remaining senshi. Soon they would all be under her control. Sara and Darth Syn walked down an old brick corridor leading to an even danker-looking dungeon. This room once held some of the most dangerous prisoners in the galaxy, and the rotting iron bars left from old holding cages added to the scene of desperation. There was a window in the upper left-hand corner of the room, allowing only freckles of light to enter. It was perfect for Syn's plan.

"There, take position in that corner, opposite the light - I want this to be just right," the Sith directed. Sara followed orders and sat on the stone floor, facing directly into the projector. Darth Syn entered the code that led into the main room of the Room Behind the Waterfall.

Ippin answered. "Hello, Coruscant Taxi Service."

Sara stared straight ahead into the holoprojector. "What?"

"Just kidding! Who's calling?"

"Ippin? It's me... Sara. Remember me?"

"Of course. What's wrong? You look worried. Where are Renako and Tashita?"

Sara's lip trembled, and tears swelled in her eyes. "Oh... it's so horrible... just so awful..."

"Oh no," Ippin exclaimed. "What happened?"

"We were on the trail of a ship that I suspected as belonging to pirates... we were ambushed... they've taken us prisoner... all I know is that we're on the Badlands, in an old prison. Please hurry! But don't tell anyone that you're coming; these pirates have eavesdropping devices and spies all over the galaxy. I don't want anyone else getting hurt. But please... come quickly."

The image suddenly filtered out, and Sara stood triumphantly. Her face beamed with pride.

"Well done, Sara. In a few short hours, or sooner if they involve the Time Guardian, our collection of senshi will multiply. The time for me to step up my presence in the underground is now. Soon, my name will be known the galaxy over, and I will replace Darth Sidious as head of the Sith."

"What will happen to me?"

"You? You'll always have a place working for me. But only if this plan works."

Ippin stalked the kitchen, waiting for it to clear. While it was true she did want to sneak some cookies, she also wanted to corner a senshi. She hated not being able to inform her fellow soldiers, but she could risk putting them all in danger. A warm, strong hand grabbed Ippin's shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

"Oh Mara!" Ippin said, spinning around to find her red-headed friend. "I'm... um... I'm going to be honest with you," the flame-haired senshi said. Quietly, and quickly, she told the story about Sara. Mara agreed to help, but felt that other senshi should be involved.

So Ippin and Mara want to the main room to see if anyone was there, and they found Boshi and Melesse just hanging out. They filled them in on what had happened to Sara, Renako, and Tashita. They had agreed to help; now all they had to do was find someone to take them there because Ippin didn't want to use the Time Stick just in case they could feel them in the Force when she used it. They were discussing who they should ask when, all of sudden, Priire came in, upset.

"Has anyone seen Sara - she has taken my Black Fire Dreamer. Renako, Tashita, and she left a few days ago, and they should be back by now. I hope nothing has happened to them or my ship."

"Priire, if I tell you where your ship is, will you help us?" Ippin put on her best smile for her sister.

"Do I have a choice, Coru?"

"No."

"Okay, I'll help then. So where's my ship?"

"Your ship is in the Badlands."

"What's it doing there?"

"Sara, Renako, and Tashita want to look for Senator Trog and somehow they were kidnapped by Darth Syn. We were going to go rescue them, but we need a ship to get to the Badlands. I don't want to use my Time Stick, just in case they can feel us in the Force."

"So you want to use my Black Fire Legendmaker?"

"Yes, Priire we do."

"When do we leave?"

"As soon as your ready."

Priire, Ippin, Mara, Boshi, and, Melesse all head for the docking bay so they could leave to the Badlands to save Sara, Renako, and Tashita from Darth Syn. What they didn't know was they had fallen into Darth Syn's and Sara's trap. When they got to the docking bay, they climbed aboard the Black Fire Legendmaker. Priire want to the cockpit and did all the pre-flight checks, while everyone else belted up. When they got clearance to leave, they took off and headed to the Badlands.

Darth Syn and Sara were making planning to capture Ippin and everyone else she brought with her. They knew she wouldn't tell all the Sailor Jedi because she wouldn't want to risk Sara's and the others' lifes. But to be on the safe side, he had called Geri to help them out just in case she brought more than one Sailor Jedi with her. All they had to do is wait for them to arrive.

It only took a few hours to get to the Badlands on Priire's ship. She made sure that she landed the ship on the outskirts of the Badlands so they wouldn't know they were there. When landed, they had about an hour walk to go to where Sara said they were being held prisoners. They had all transformed in to Sailor Scouts, except for Mara; she made sure she had her lightsaber ready in her hand. When they got there, they could feel the dark Force all around them - the closer they got, the more they could feel it. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, Darth Syn, Geri, and Sara showed up in front of the Sailor Jedi.

"I'm glad you could make it, and I see you have brought a few more Sailor Scouts with you," Darth Syn sneered.

"It's a trap, everyone," said Asteroid.

"A course it's trap - why do you think I had Sara fake the distress call?"

"No, Sara, not you," whispered Yavin.

"Sara's with me now, isn't that right?"

"Yes, Master."

"Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban, go see if you can find Renako and Tashita while Yavin, Asteroid, and I hold them off."

"Yes, Mara," Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban said in union. Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban left to got find Renako and Tashita while Mara, Yavin, and Asteroid took care Darth Syn, Sara, and Geri.

"Sara's mine," whispered Mara.

Yavin went after Darth Syn, while Asteroid went after Geri. Sara and Mara both powered up their lightsabers. Mara attacked Sara, and Darth Syn told Sara to kill Mara, so Sara blocked the blow and flipped over Mara's head to try and get her from the backside; but Mara was to quick and was able to block the blow Sara made at her. Sara keep slashing and slashing at Mara, trying to kill her, but Mara met her blow for blow. Mara was looking for an opening on Sara. After a while, Sara was tiring out but she tried to call on the Force as much, as she could she wasn't giving up. It was either kill or be killed, and she was going to make sure she killed Mara anyway she could, even if she had to cheat. Mara was defending herself really well against Sara.

In the meantime, Yavin and Darth Syn were fighting. Darth Syn was trying to use Dark Eyes on Yavin but he was having a hard time because he couldn't get her to look at him so he decided to draw his lightsaber and attack her. Before he could get his lightsaber lit, Yavin used Yavin Core Pressure on him. He started to cry out in agony; she had hurt him really badly. Before she could use it again, he used Dark Port to make his escape because he was injured and didn't think he could stop her. He thought the best thing to do was to make his escape and try again when he regrouped. Before he left through the port, he told her that he would be back and he would get her next time. The last thing Yavin heard before he disappeared was Darth Syn's eerie laughter.

Asteroid and Geri were fighting against each other. Geri tried to use Black Hole Engulf on Asteroid, but she used Asteroid Shower Power on her. She was attacked by asteroids, but she tried to engulf her again. Asteroid wasn't one to give up so easily, so she then used Asteroid Gravity Force to stop the engulf attack from Geri. Geri didn't think she was going to be able to stop Asteroid and she saw that Darth Syn had already taken off, so she thought she should take off to before Asteroid kicked her butt. Before Asteroid could use Asteroid Shower Power on her again, she disappeared.

In the meantime, Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban were looking for Renako and Tashita. It took them a while to find them because they were in the dungeon of Darth Syn's palace and he had the place boobytrapped. Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban almost fell into the poisonous snake pit when the stairs had gave way on them. If it wasn't for Chibi Mimban's quick thinking, she and Shooting Star would have been in the poisonous snake pit. When they got to the top of the stairs, Chibi Mimban stepped on something that felt funny under her foot, and all of a sudden, axes came flying at them out of nowhere. Shooting Star grabbed Chibi Mimban just in time and dropped to the floor before the axes got them smack dab in the face. They decided to be more careful because they didn't know what other boobytraps Darth Syn had set up for them to fall into.

They finally were able to find Renako and Tashita; they were chained up in the cell and they had Force inhibiter collars on so they could not use the Force. They felt bad for them because the couldn't call upon the Force to get them out of the cell. Shooting Star noted that the cell door was glowing; if they tried to open it without deactivating the switch, it could harm them all. It took them a while to find the switch, which was in the poisonous snake pit. There was more than one switch, and they had to be carefully not to activate something else. They used the Force to figure out which switch was for the cell, and when they pulled it, the cell door stopped glowing. They got the cell door open and freed Renako and Tashita from their prison. It took them time to get the Force collars of them, and when they did, the four of them went out of the dungeon as carefully as they could without setting off anymore boobytraps, even though Shooting Star and Chibi Mimban had set a few off when they came in.

When Chibi Mimban, Shooting Star, Renako, and Tashita got back to the others, they saw that Darth Syn and Geri were gone and Asteroid and Yavin were watching Mara and Sara fight to the death. If you didn't know they were fighting to the death, just by looking at them you would think they were either sparring or doing katas. You could see the Force moving around them. They knew if Asteroid and Yavin didn't think Mara needed help, then they would just watch too. It went on for a while between Sara and Mara until Sara made the mistake of doing a upper cut to Mara, leaving her midsection wide open. Mara stabbed her lightsaber into Sara's chest. Sara dropped her lightsaber and fell to her knees. She couldn't breath; she grabbed for her chest. Mara deactivated her lightsaber, and they all rushed over to Sara's side.

"Forgive... me..."

"Relax, Sara. Let me if I can help you."

"It's too late for me... Mara..."

"We can patch you up and get you back to the Temple so they can help you."

"I'm not going to make it... I didn't mean to try and kill you."

"Darth Syn had you under his spell. It wasn't your fault."

"Tell Master Yoda and Obi-Wan I'm sorry..."

And before Mara could say anything else, Sara became one with the Force. All was left was her lightsaber, which Yavin picked up. They took a few minutes to mourn her death before they left back to the Legendmaker so they could get out of there.

"Renako or Tashita, do you know where my Black Fire Dreamer is?"

"Yes. We can take you there if you want, Priire."

"Ippin, will you fly the Black Fire Dreamer back while I fly the other one. Renako will show you were it is."

"Sure Priire, I'll fly it back for you."

So Ippin, Renako, and Tashita went to get the Black Fire Dreamer and fly it home, while Priire, Boshi, Melesse, and Mara went to the Legendmaker. It didn't take them long to get back to Coruscant. They were all still feeling bad because of what happened to Sara, but still they still needed to tell Master Yoda and Obi-Wan what had happened.

When they got to the Temple, Mara and Ippin went to talk to Master Yoda and Obi-Wan. They found both of them in the garden with Annika and Nom, chatting.

"Excuse us, Master Yoda and Obi-Wan. We need to talk to you."

"What is it, Mara?"

"Keep us waiting, you must not."

"We need to talk to you about Sara, Master."

"Felt her join the Force, I did."

"So you know that she is dead."

"What happened no, one with the Force I do."

"I'm sorry for killing her, Master. She attacked me, and to protect myself I killed her. She was under Darth Syn's spell."

"Understand, I do. Sorry, I am, to see a bright padawan fall to the Dark Side."

"Here's her lightsaber, Master, and she had ask me to tell you and Obi-Wan that she's sorry for everything."

"Thank you, Mara. Disturb you, her death, I hope does not."

"No, I'm not disturbed by her death, but I felt sorry for her for turning to the Dark Side."

"Blame yourself, you must not. Choice was hers. Fight it, she did not. In better place she is in now. In the Light she will be always."

"I understand, Master. I need to mediate on my feelings."

"I'll let you meditate."

And with that, Mara bowed to Master Yoda and left to meditate on her feelings on what happened.

"Good for her heart, it will be. Make her stronger, it will."

"I know. It's hard on us all to kill one of our own who turned to the Dark Side, but I hope she will be fine."

"Deal with it, she will, in her own way, Knight Kenobi. Forgive Sara in your heart too, you must."

"I have forgiven her, Master, but still... she was one of my best friends, and to see her turn to the Dark Side pains me even more."

Everyone knew how Obi-Wan and Mara both felt about Sara's death even though it hurt them all to see one of their own fall to the Dark Side. They all fought for the Light, and to lose a part of that Light to the Dark Side just pained everyone more.
